1. Little Mute (Jackie Chan)
A young man living in Shaolin Temple. He lost his father at an early age and became mute.
(The kung fu movie that he starred became popular. After that, he became a big star in Asia. He does dangerous stunts himself. "Drunken Master" (1978), "Police Story" (1985), "The Armor of God" (1986), etc.)

2. Prisoner (Chin Kang)
Former Shaolin monk who is a kung fu master. The boss of a group of thugs. He is imprisoned in a cave at Shaolin Temple for punishment for misusing kung fu. He teaches the deadly kung fu "Lion’s Roar" to Little Mute as an expression of gratitude for food and drink.
(He often plays a villain. "Snake & Crane Arts Of Shaolin" (1977), "Half A Loaf Of Kung-Fu!" (1978), etc.)

3. Nun (Chang Ping-Yu)
A nun who trains at Shaolin Temple. She teaches Little Mute "the Gliding Snake style" and "Heart of kung fu".

4. Blind abbot (Lee Siu-Chung)
A man who was once the head of Shaolin Temple. As his disciple, Prisoner, caused a nuisance to the people, he took responsibility and became blind.
("Deputy head of Shaolin Temple" that appears in "Spiritual Kung-Fu" (1978) was also blind, but he is a different person from Lee Siu-Chung.)

5. Restaurant waitress (Doris Lung)
Daughter of the owner of the restaurant. She is helped by Little Mute when she is confused by thugs who does not pay their bill.
(Actress with cute eyes. She co-starred with Jackie in "Half A Loaf Of Kung-Fu!" (1978), Cartar Wong in "The 8 Masters" (1982) and "Shaolin Traitor" (1983).)

6. Thug (Yuen Biao)
A minion of Prisoner. He got into trouble with Little Mute at a restaurant. He attacks Little Mute with his fellows ...
(Later popular star. At this time, he often played small parts, villains, and stuntmen. "Knockabout" (1979), "TWO FINGER FIST" (1979), "The Champion" (1983), "My Lucky Stars" (1985), etc.)
